I like the additional land added, the no boundaries gives it more of a world feel. The addition of Cove is also nice.

What direction will the land take?
I mean that as, will it be a random map outside of the original pre-alpha area.

Over time players will get use to the map, possibly even saying its too small.(depending on the player base)

I propose an idea that will make the land larger as well as keep the early
Ultima lore alive. Either creating the map to be the original Sosaria map from Ultima 1 which is 4 islands near by. Or creating the original Sosaria map from Ultima 2 the large clump of land.

Or even taking it to another level, originally the UO Britannia map was proposed to be 4 continents, Britannia as we know from modern UO was one I'll post a picture showing this. They took the idea from the original Ultima 1 map. But never went through with it feeling Britannia was large enough.

I understand these would be monumental changes that would take time and may even not be liked by Draconis or the players. So please take this with a grain of salt, it being merely an idea.

File comment: Google has larger versions of the map.
On the sides are a list of landmarks and cities. From Ultima 2.

Although Cove is not one of the cities, Britain, Moonglow (Moon), and Yew are.

The Alpha UO Map.

Which would be basically a clone of Britannia with some small changes and other lands.

Over time the new lands could be sailed to and added due to player demand or population size.

I would like to hear peoples input on my idea.
Please reply with your thoughts.

I have suggest the UI map like two years ago.

Personally it was my favorite Ultima map. Too bad it was destroyed. Doubt it would ever happen though. It is a too huge map for any playerbase, no matter small or large. I mean we need at least 800 of active players in order to make that map effective, with 200 players covering each of 4 continents.

Ultima I and III maps as well as other Britannia versions are actually available on the dark shard project:

http://darkshard.net/basic_maps/index.html

Not sure if they could be converted to alpha grahpics though.

What I suggest is adding just one Dungeon (Despise) and the dungeon surrounding area as well as just one additional town - Yew. And the area surrounding Yew and the crossroads.

That would be more than enough. Though I like the just Britain concept, it makes it feel more of a town-domination gameplay, where each player faction is aiming at taking control over Britain, another town would be also useful to make a trade between the cities provided that there are more region-based resources available on the map. Such as, Yew wood could only be harvested in the Yew Deep Forest, no where else, and Iron could only be mined in the Britain region, thus woodcutters from Yew and miners from Britain would have something to trade between each other. One dungeon would also attract more players and guilds to take over big spawns. I think everyone would agree that Myndon maze is just not enough anymore.

Yes it would be something in the future but it wouldn't be a very hard add on, and would be one more thing to entertain people. The last thing we want is for people to know the entire server like the back of their hand after 2-3 days of playing, and at the size the map is now thats what is happening.

I agree it isn't needed at this very moment, but should be in near sight. People will say well... the map is tiny.
Our reply would be don't worry we're working on enlarging it, and even though we mean it, its still the last thing people want to hear, "We're working on it."

Because 9 times out of 10, they aren't working on it. :P
